Legal Action Taken Against ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ for Misrepresentation of Hindu Scriptures: Accusations of Distorting Sacred Texts

Legal Notice Served to 'Kalki 2898 AD' Makers Over Alleged Inaccurate Portrayal of Hindu Texts

Former Congress leader and Kalki Dham Peethadheeshwar Acharya Pramod Krishnam has issued a legal notice to the makers and prominent actors of the upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD, alleging that the movie inaccurately portrays Hindu scriptures and disrespects sacred texts.

The notice, served by Supreme Court advocate Ujjawal Anand Sharma on behalf of Acharya Pramod Krishnam, targets Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and South film industry star Prabhas, among others involved in the film’s production. The legal complaint accuses the film’s creators of distorting the portrayal of Lord Kalki, a significant figure in Hinduism, as described in the Puranic Scriptures.

The notice asserts that the film’s depiction of Lord Kalki deviates fundamentally from traditional Hindu texts, which could lead to confusion and misinterpretation of Hindu mythology. “The portrayal and depiction of the story of Lord Kalki is wholly inaccurate and blatantly disrespectful to these sacred texts, which are central to the religious beliefs and practices of a vast number of devotees,” the notice states. It further claims that such inaccuracies could cause distress among the Hindu community and potentially erode the faith of its followers.

Acharya Pramod Krishnam criticized what he perceives as a trend of distorting Hindu texts in popular media, asserting that such portrayals undermine the integrity of religious beliefs. He emphasized that the Kalki avatar, expected to be the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is a revered subject of numerous Hindu texts and practices. He also highlighted the recent foundation stone laying for the Shri Kalki Dham temple in Uttar Pradesh by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a testament to the avatar’s significance.

The legal notice also alleges that the film’s creators have used elements from the epic Mahabharat to falsely claim authenticity. For instance, the film reportedly depicts Lord Kalki being born through artificial insemination, which the notice claims is a significant deviation from traditional beliefs.

Advocate Ujjawal Anand Sharma stated that the notice was issued following numerous concerns raised by confused devotees. He suggested that the film’s portrayal could mislead viewers and distort widely held religious beliefs.
