Vicky Kaushal’s period drama Chhaava continues to make waves at the box office and is now set for a Telugu release following its immense success in Hindi-speaking regions. Responding to high demand from fans, the makers have decided to bring the film to Telugu audiences starting March 7.
The production house Maddock Films made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a new poster featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The caption read, “The epic tale of India’s courageous son, #Chhaava, is now all set to roar in Telugu by popular demand. Box Office Success
Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava has emerged as a massive box office hit since its release on February 14. The film has grossed over ₹500 crore worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing Hindi period epic after Padmaavat. In India, it has earned ₹385 crore and is on track to surpass ₹400 crore. Given its current pace, the film is expected to touch the ₹700 crore mark globally.
Maharashtra has been Chhaava’s strongest market, as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is a revered historical figure in the state. The film has also performed well in Rajasthan and West Bengal, where footfall has increased mid-week.
Star-Studded Cast and Story
Apart from Vicky Kaushal, Chhaava features Akshaye Khanna, Rashmika Mandanna, Divya Dutta, and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles. The film tells the compelling story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the brave son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, known for his valiant resistance against the Mughal Empire.
