
Actor Shubhangi Atre, widely known for her role as Angoori Bhabhi in the popular television sitcom “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain,” is mourning the loss of her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey, who passed away following a prolonged battle with liver cirrhosis.
According to a report by the Times of India, Piyush had been unwell for some time and succumbed to his illness on Saturday. In a brief statement, Shubhangi said, “Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this.”

Shubhangi and Piyush tied the knot in 2003 in Indore. Two years later, the couple welcomed their daughter, Ashi, who is currently studying in the United States. The couple officially ended their marriage on February 5, 2024, after years of separation.
Despite their divorce and reportedly not being on speaking terms, a source revealed that Shubhangi is deeply affected by the loss and resumed shooting for her ongoing show on Sunday.

Last year, before their legal separation, sources had hinted at the couple trying to reconcile. “There was a time when the couple tried to work on their relationship and give a second chance to their marriage. But that didn’t work out,” a source had told Hindustan Times.
Although they chose to go their separate ways, both reportedly prioritized their daughter’s well-being, avoiding any contentious legal battles. “They have remained cordial with each other for the sake of their daughter,” the source added.
