Veteran actor Shakti Kapoor recently opened up about his experience working with Bollywood superstar Govinda, highlighting how the actor’s work habits have evolved over time. Known for his unmatched energy and comedic brilliance, Govinda was a bonafide superstar in the ‘80s and ‘90s, often juggling multiple projects at the same time.
In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Kapoor spoke candidly about Govinda’s transformation, particularly regarding his punctuality. He reminisced about how, in the past, Govinda had a reputation for showing up late, even arriving at 9 pm for a 9 am shift. Kapoor noted, “The one thing that has changed about him over the years is his punctuality. Earlier, he would arrive at 9 pm for a 9 am shift. Now, he arrives at 8:30 am for a 9 a.m. shift.”
Kapoor attributed this change to the actor’s growing sense of professionalism and maturity. “Insecurity aadmi ko kaha se kaha pahucha deti hai (Insecurity changes people). Now he is very professional, and the entire industry knows it,” Kapoor added.
The actor went on to share a funny anecdote from a shoot in Hyderabad, recalling how a young Aamir Khan once showed up on set just to observe Govinda’s performance. Kapoor was surprised to see a small figure standing in the crowd, only to realize that it was Aamir Khan. “When I asked him why he was there, Aamir replied, ‘I have come to see how Govinda manages to lip-sync so well and how he manages to give such long shots in one take. I am the biggest fan of Govinda,'” Kapoor recalled with a smile.
While Govinda’s career had seen a series of ups and downs, Kapoor remains confident that the actor can still make a comeback. “Some people have already declared that it’s too late for him to make a comeback. But I don’t believe so. Actors like Amrish Puri started at 44, so it’s never too late,” he said, sharing his belief in Govinda’s potential for a resurgence.
