Among the illustrious contenders, Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara’s captivating cinematic masterpiece, “Jawan,” has clinched a nomination for the esteemed title of Best International Feature Film.

Curated by The Hollywood Creative Alliance, the ASTRA Awards recognized an array of cinematic gems spanning various genres and countries. “Jawan” stands tall in contention alongside global offerings such as “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Killer of the Flower Moon,” “John Wick,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider Verse,” and other box office hits that have captivated audiences worldwide.

Nominated in the Best Feature category, “Jawan” represents India amidst a diverse lineup of international cinematic achievements. Competing fiercely for the prestigious title, the film faces tough contenders such as “Anatomy of a Fall” (France), “Concrete Utopia” (South Korea), “Fallen Leaves” (Finland), “Perfect Days” (Japan), “Radical” (Mexico), “Society of the Snow” (Spain), “The Taste of Things” (France), “The Teacher’s Lounge” (Germany), and “The Zone of Interest” (United Kingdom).

The revelation of “Jawan” securing a coveted spot among the ASTRA Awards’ international nominations has evoked a wave of pride and celebration among fans and cinephiles alike. Social media platforms erupted with messages of support and enthusiasm, with one user highlighting, “Haters are going to hate, but @Atlee_dir’s VICTORY makes the entire INDIA proud! Taylor Swift’s groundbreaking concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is in contention for Best Documentary Feature, having set records as the highest-grossing concert film in history.

Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro,” chronicling the life of American conductor Leonard Bernstein, secured seven nominations, with accolades for best actor, best director for Cooper, and best actress for Carey Mulligan.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance, formerly known as the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society and later rebranded as the Hollywood Critics Association, rebranded its awards as The ASTRA Awards in 2023. The winners will be unveiled during a highly anticipated gala event slated for February 26, 2024, in Los Angeles.

“Jawan,” an Atlee directorial venture, not only starred Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara in pivotal roles but also featured Vijay Sethupathi and a special appearance by Deepika Padukone. Produced under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment, the film also boasted an ensemble cast including Sunil Grover, Ridhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Eijaz Khan, Lehar Khan, and Girija Oak.

The film made significant strides at the box office, shattering records and cementing its place as the third fastest Hindi film to surpass the ₹100 crore mark.
