Exciting news for fans of Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan! Their much-anticipated film Vettaiyan has officially announced its release date. The film is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2024, as confirmed by Lyca Productions. The announcement was made on X (formerly Twitter), accompanied by a dynamic poster showcasing Rajinikanth in an IPS uniform. The caption read, “Target-locked VETTAIYAN is set to hunt in cinemas worldwide from October 10th, 2024! Superstar as Supercop!”
Directed and written by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The film marks a highly anticipated collaboration between Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, who are reuniting on screen after 33 years. Their last joint project was the 1991 film Hum, though they also worked together on Andhaa Kaanoon and Geraftaar.
Vettaiyan will face stiff competition at the box office as it is scheduled to clash with Suriya’s Kanguva. Directed by Siva, Kanguva features Disha Patani and Bobby Deol in significant roles, adding to the buzz surrounding its release.
The release date announcement follows Rajinikanth’s recent hint about the film’s timing during his visit to the Himalayas in June. In a conversation with a yogi, Rajinikanth had revealed, “Vettaiyan will release for Dussehra. I have completed my portions. The shooting with other members of the cast is still ongoing. The film will be released on October 10.”
Lyca Productions also shared a special update on X, celebrating the completion of Rajinikanth’s portions. The post featured a picture from the last day of filming, with the entire Vettaiyan team gathered around the superstar. The caption read, “And it is a wrap for our Thalaivar! Superstar Rajinikanth completes filming his portion for Vettaiyan.”
With the release date set and the anticipation building, Vettaiyan promises to be a major event in Indian cinema, as Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan make a grand return to the big screen together.
