In the wake of the global triumph of his recent crime drama, ‘Jailer,’ superstar Rajinikanth has received a lavish gift that befits his legendary status. Kalanidhi Maran, the chairman of the Sun Group, which produced the film, has gifted the iconic actor a brand new BMW X7 worth ₹1.24 crore as a token of appreciation for the film’s remarkable success, grossing over ₹600 crore at the worldwide box office.
A prominent film trade analyst took to social media to share a picture and video capturing the moment when Kalanidhi Maran handed over the keys to the luxurious BMW X7 to Rajinikanth. The superstar, dressed in his signature white kurta pajama, graciously accepted the gift from Maran.
Interestingly, Rajinikanth had the privilege of choosing between two luxurious BMW models – the BMW X7 worth ₹1.24 crore and the BMW i7 valued at ₹1.95 crore. Despite the enticing options, the actor opted for the slightly more modest but still opulent BMW X7.
In addition to the extravagant gift, Kalanidhi Maran reportedly expressed his desire for Rajinikanth to collaborate on another project with Sun Pictures, following the completion of the superstar’s upcoming film, ‘Thaliavar 171,’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
This exciting development coincides with the revelation that Rajinikanth has now ascended to the title of ‘the highest paid actor in India.’ The news came to light when the trade analyst shared a photo of Kalanidhi Maran alongside Rajinikanth and disclosed that the envelope handed over by Maran to the superstar contained a substantial cheque worth ₹100 crore from City Union Bank, Mandaveli branch in Chennai. This sum is designated as profit sharing for ‘Jailer,’ an amount in addition to Rajinikanth’s already impressive remuneration of ₹110 crore for the film, totaling an astonishing ₹210 crore and solidifying his position as India’s highest-paid actor.
‘Jailer,’ which has received immense acclaim, is a Tamil film that has been dubbed in Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu to cater to a wider audience. The film kicked off its journey by amassing ₹48.35 crore on its opening day, further garnering ₹235.85 crore during the opening week. The second week saw ‘Jailer’ continue its remarkable run, accumulating ₹62.95 crore.
As of the latest figures, the film’s total collection in India across all languages stands at ₹328.2 crore nett, with its global box office earnings surpassing the impressive ₹600 crore mark. ‘Jailer’ features an ensemble cast, including Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, and Jackie Shroff in pivotal roles. The film’s music is composed by the talented Anirudh Ravichander.
