Lucknow’s Underprivileged Children Craft Bridal Wear Inspired by Sabyasachi, Designer Responds

Sabyasachi Mukherjee’s designs have inspired a group of underprivileged children in Lucknow, who created stunning bridal wear pieces that caught the attention of the celebrated designer himself.

In a heartwarming display of creativity and resilience, a group of underprivileged children from Lucknow has recreated iconic bridal wear pieces inspired by the renowned Indian designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The children, who come from impoverished backgrounds, designed and crafted the dresses under the guidance of Innovation for Change, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free education to over 400 children from slum areas.

The NGO shared a touching video on Instagram, where the children proudly model the bridal outfits they created. The video shows the young designers confidently posing in front of the camera, showcasing their intricate craftsmanship. “These dresses were designed by our students, and all the performers in the video are from slums. These kids come from extremely poor and helpless families. They created these dresses through their creativity, using clothes donated by the local community,” the NGO explained in the post.

The children, who had no formal training in fashion design, used materials they could find from donations and charity to create their bridal wear pieces. The NGO also highlighted the involvement of 15-year-old aspiring filmmakers, who shot the video as part of their ongoing efforts to refine their skills. The video not only celebrates the children’s talent but also captures their determination to make something beautiful despite their challenging circumstances.

The video quickly gained attention on social media, and the response was overwhelming. It was soon noticed by none other than Sabyasachi Mukherjee himself, who shared his appreciation by leaving a heart emoji in the comments section. The designer also re-shared the video on his own Instagram account, showing his admiration for the young creators.

The heartfelt reactions continued to pour in, with many users praising the children’s work. One user commented, “More power to these kids… lots of love and blessings,” while another wrote, “Seeing such a beautiful portrayal of Indian bridal beauty reminds me that elegance and grace aren’t defined by wearing a Sabyasachi/Manish Malhotra label or by caste, creed, or class. It’s more about the spirit and authenticity each person brings. Hats off to everyone involved for showcasing the true essence of Indian beauty.”

This touching initiative, which blends creativity with social change, serves as a reminder that talent and beauty transcend class and background. The children’s efforts in recreating Sabyasachi’s iconic designs not only showcased their creative abilities but also highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for underprivileged communities to express themselves through art and fashion.
