Kiran Rao’s latest film, “Laapataa Ladies,” has witnessed a remarkable surge in box office earnings over its opening weekend. According to a report by Sacnilk, the comedy-drama collected ₹1.80 crore on its third day, bringing its total domestic box office collection to ₹4 crore.
The film, which follows the journey of two young brides who become lost on a train, stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastava in pivotal roles. Supporting cast members include Chhaya Kadam, Durgesh Kumar, Satendra Soni, and Hemant Soni. “Laapataa Ladies” is jointly produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared updates on the film’s performance, revealing that “Laapataa Ladies” recorded a solid 37.25% jump in collections on its second day. Adarsh attributed this growth to strong word-of-mouth publicity and strategic targeting of big centers. The film’s success, he noted, underscores the importance of content in driving box office success.
Film critic Saibal Chatterjee lauded “Laapataa Ladies,” awarding it a commendable 3.5 out of 5 stars. He praised the film for tackling important social issues such as patriarchy, dowry, domestic violence, and gender roles, while still providing entertainment value. Chatterjee particularly highlighted the performances of the lead actors, noting their ability to convey complex emotions with ease.
