The much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer, L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is off to a record-breaking start even before its theatrical release on March 27. The film’s advance booking figures have already surpassed the first-day collection of its prequel, Lucifer (2019).
Advance Booking Records
According to Sacnilk, L2: Empuraan has collected ₹9.6 crore gross in India from advance bookings so far and has crossed ₹30 crore worldwide in pre-sales. Director Prithviraj Sukumaran also shared a poster revealing that the film has already grossed more than ₹58 crore globally for its opening weekend.
The film’s popularity was further highlighted by ticket sales, with over 645,000 tickets sold in just 24 hours. Notably, within the first hour of its availability on BookMyShow, over 96,000 tickets were snapped up.
For comparison, Lucifer had earned ₹6.10 crore net on its opening day in India and ended its lifetime run with a gross of ₹77 crore. Given L2: Empuraan’s strong pre-sales numbers, it is expected to surpass its predecessor’s total earnings.
