The much-anticipated trailer of “Showtime,” a show produced by Karan Johar, has been unveiled, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the world of Bollywood and its infamous nepotism debate. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Mouni Roy, Naseeruddin Shah, Mahima Makwana, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Shriya Saran, “Showtime” promises to be an epic saga delving into the intricacies of legacy and ambition in the Indian film industry.

Directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, the show is set to premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on March 8, offering viewers an insider’s perspective into the multi-million dollar world of cinema, shedding light on the power struggles and nepotism prevalent at its summit.

In the trailer shared by Karan Johar on his Instagram account, Emraan Hashmi portrays the role of an influential film producer, while Mahima Makwana essays the role of a reporter delving into the sensitive topic of nepotism on television.

Rajeev Khandelwal, on the other hand, portrays a Bollywood star seemingly intoxicated by his own fame, leading a devoted fan base referred to as the “Armanians.” He adamantly refuses to endorse a film supported by Emraan’s character, culminating in a dramatic confrontation outside his bungalow.

Adding further intrigue to the narrative is Naseeruddin Shah, who portrays a wealthy businessman asserting his ownership over Bollywood, hinting at the complex web of power dynamics within the industry.

“Showtime” emerges amidst ongoing debates surrounding nepotism in Bollywood, with Karan Johar himself embroiled in controversy following remarks made by Kangana Ranaut on his chat show “Koffee with Karan” in 2017, where she famously dubbed him the “flag-bearer of nepotism.”

Speaking about the show, Emraan Hashmi expressed excitement, stating, “Being in the industry for so long, I have seen both the good and bad side of it, so when this show came to me, I grabbed the opportunity of being a part of it and could resonate with it on various levels.” He further acknowledged the audience’s curiosity about the inner workings of Bollywood, affirming that “Showtime” would delve deep into the tales of the industry.

“Showtime” is set to offer viewers a gripping narrative that delves into the complexities of Bollywood, promising to provoke thought and ignite conversations about the prevailing issues within the film fraternity. As anticipation mounts for its release, audiences await the opportunity to unravel the mysteries behind the glitz and glamour of the silver screen.
