The highly anticipated sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, is set to make its digital debut on August 22, 2024. Fans can look forward to streaming the film on two major platforms: Prime Video and Netflix.
OTT Release Details
Prime Video India announced that the film will be available for streaming in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on its platform. Sharing a vibrant poster inspired by Hindu mythology and set in a post-apocalyptic world, Prime Video India captioned the announcement: “The dawn of a new ERA awaits you. And this is your gateway into the GRAND world of Kalki… Kalki 2898 AD on Prime… Aug 22.”
Simultaneously, Netflix India revealed that the Hindi version of Kalki 2898 AD will also be available on the same date. The streaming giant posted a promo on Instagram with the message: “Iss yug ka EPIC blockbuster aa raha hai Netflix par, Hindi mein (Blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD is arriving in Hindi on Netflix). Watch Kalki 2898 AD Hindi arriving on 22nd August on Netflix.”
About the Film
Kalki 2898 AD is a grand fusion of Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction, directed by Nag Ashwin, known for his successful projects like Mahanati and Yevade Subramanyam. The film, produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, had an impressive theatrical run, grossing ₹1041.6 crore worldwide since its release on June 27, 2024.
The film features an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, who plays the role of the immortal warrior Ashwathhama. Bachchan, who expressed his admiration for the project on his blog, described it as a “massive spectacle” and a “merger of myth and reality,” praising the filmmakers for their ambitious approach.
