Anjali Opens Up on Game Changer’s Box Office Failure: ‘It Hurts So Badly’

Anjali Reflects on Game Changer’s Box Office Failure: ‘It Hurts So Badly’

Shankar’s much-anticipated film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, and Anjali, failed to create a strong impact at the box office despite faring better than Indian 2. The film received mixed reviews and suffered a major setback due to piracy.

Anjali on the Film’s Lukewarm Response

During a press meet in Hyderabad, Anjali was asked about Game Changer‘s performance. She expressed her disappointment, stating, “As an actor, I can only take responsibility for how well I played my character. We promote films with the hope that they will succeed, but beyond that, there are factors beyond our control.”

Referring to the online leak of the film’s HD print within hours of its release, Anjali subtly hinted at the impact of piracy, saying, “Everyone knows why I’m saying that.” The actress revealed that she had given her best to the film and was glad that audiences appreciated her performance. However, she admitted that the film’s underwhelming performance deeply affected her, adding, “It hurts so badly.”

Piracy and Box Office Impact

Just three days after the film’s release, its producers filed a complaint against individuals involved in piracy and extortion. The movie’s leaked version significantly hampered its earnings.

Despite the challenges, Game Changer managed to gross ₹154.85 crore in India and ₹185.10 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk. The film revolves around Ram Nandan, an IAS officer fighting corruption in electoral politics, with SJ Suryah playing the antagonist Bobbili Mopidev.

While the movie had high expectations, its underwhelming reception has left the cast and crew disappointed. Anjali’s heartfelt remarks highlight the struggles actors face when their passionate work does not achieve the desired success.
