“When Agastya Nanda Was Mistaken for a Delivery Guy: The Hilarious Prelude to ‘The Archies'”

Amitabh Bachchan's Grandson Agastya Nanda Recalls Hilarious Incidents Before Debut in "The Archies"

In a recent interview with Film Companion, Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, shared amusing anecdotes from his journey in the Hindi film industry before making his debut in Zoya Akhtar’s “The Archies,” currently streaming on Netflix India.

The young actor revealed that prior to signing his first film, not many people recognized him or knew how he looked. Agastya recounted a humorous incident when he was mistaken for a delivery boy by a security guard at a filmmaker’s office. “I’ve gone to another office where the security guard was like, ‘Idhar aa, idhar aa (come here).’ He said, ‘Naam likh. package delivery time bata. (Write down your name and the delivery time of package).’ I said I’ve not come here to deliver the package; I’ve come here to meet the director,” Agastya shared.

He explained that such misunderstandings occurred frequently, attributing them to the lack of social media presence. Agastya highlighted the downsides of not being active on social platforms, where his appearance could be easily recognized.

In another instance, the debutant actor revealed how he had to wait for 45 minutes inside a filmmaker’s office before overhearing that people were unaware of his presence. “This happens quite a lot. The disadvantages of not having social media,” he remarked.

Agastya Nanda recently made his social media debut on Instagram, sharing his first post that garnered attention from family and industry friends. His rumored girlfriend, Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, welcomed him with a comment, “Welcome,” accompanied by a smiling face with heart-eyes emoji. Gauri Khan and Agastya’s uncle, Abhishek Bachchan, also greeted him warmly on his Instagram debut.

The young actor, who grew up away from the limelight in Delhi with his businessman father, acknowledged that his lack of recognition was a result of his low profile upbringing.

Agastya’s next venture is the film “Ekkis,” where he will be seen alongside the legendary actor Dharmendra. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, the film is set to release on January 10, 2025. As Agastya continues to carve his niche in the film industry, his journey from being mistaken for a delivery boy to making a mark on the big screen is one filled with amusing anecdotes and promising prospects.
