Sitara Ghattamaneni, the 12-year-old daughter of renowned actor Mahesh Babu and former Miss India Namrata Shirodkar, recently opened up about the prospect of continuing her family’s illustrious legacy. In an interview with iDream Media, Sitara shared her thoughts on potentially stepping into the world of acting and modeling, acknowledging her early stage in life and career exploration.
When asked about the weight of her family’s legacy, which includes her grandfather Krishna’s significant contributions to the film industry, Sitara expressed a mix of excitement and uncertainty. “It feels really good to be able to carry this legacy forward. It feels great to be part of this wonderful family,” she said. Despite this enthusiasm, Sitara admitted, “I’m interested in both acting and modelling, but I am only 12, so I am not sure yet.”
Sitara recently made her modeling debut with the PMJ jewellery brand, an experience she described as both inspiring and heartwarming. Reflecting on her parents’ influence, she shared, “My mom is the strict one, nanna (father) pampers me a lot. I remember when he first saw my PMJ ad, he was going to cry. Even from my mom, I feel like I got her fashion sense. I’m mad she didn’t keep more of her clothes for me. It’s great she had such a great modelling career and won Miss India. I love her photos from Miss India.”
In the same interview, Sitara revealed that she and her older brother Gautham are both receiving acting training. While Sitara is pursuing her training in Hyderabad, Gautham is enrolled in a four-year drama course at New York University.
As for her parents’ current projects, Mahesh Babu was recently seen in the film Guntur Kaaram, directed by Trivikram Srinivas. The film, which released during Sankranthi, faced competition from several other movies and received a mixed response. Mahesh is set to collaborate with SS Rajamouli on an upcoming action-adventure film, though details about the project, including the cast and crew, have yet to be disclosed.
Sitara’s candid reflections on her family’s legacy and her own future in the entertainment industry highlight her thoughtful approach to navigating her budding career.
