Punjabi singer AP Dhillon has confirmed his safety following a shooting incident outside his residence on Victoria Island, Vancouver. The incident occurred on Sunday, prompting widespread concern among fans and the music community.
In a statement posted on Instagram, AP Dhillon assured his supporters, “I’m safe, my people are safe. Thank you to everyone who reached out to me. Your support means everything.” The singer’s reassurance comes after reports emerged that shots were fired outside his house.
Rohit Godara, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has reportedly claimed responsibility for the shooting. In a purported post circulating online, Godara alleges that the firing occurred at two locations in Canada—Victoria Island and Woodbridge, Toronto. The post also includes threats against AP Dhillon, supposedly linked to his collaboration with Bollywood actor Salman Khan in a recent music video.
AP Dhillon, known for his unique fusion of 80s synth-pop with Punjabi music, has gained international recognition through hits like “Brown Munde,” “Excuses,” “Summer High,” “With You,” “Dil Nu,” and “Insane.” His rise has been marked by significant global success, and this recent incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by celebrities in the face of organized crime.
This shooting follows a pattern of similar incidents involving the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Last November, gangster Bishnoi reportedly took responsibility for a shooting near singer Gippy Grewal’s home in Vancouver’s White Rock neighborhood. Additionally, in April, shots were fired outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The Mumbai police have declared Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi as “wanted accused” in connection with the Mumbai shooting.
