Salman Khan’s much-anticipated Eid release, Sikandar, continues to face a tough run at the box office. On Thursday (April 3), the film collected ₹5.75 crore (net), bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹90 crore, according to Sacnilk.
A Disappointing Box Office Performance
Sikandar opened with a decent ₹26 crore on its first day and saw a slight boost on Eid (March 30), earning ₹29 crore. However, after the holiday period, the film witnessed a significant drop in collections. On Wednesday, it suffered a massive 50% decline, minting just ₹9.75 crore.
Despite Salman Khan’s star power, extensive promotions, and even a joint appearance with Aamir Khan, Sikandar has failed to maintain momentum.
Screenings Cancelled in Multiple Cities
Due to the film’s underwhelming performance, screenings were cancelled in several cities, including Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, and Indor
Some Theatres Still Going Strong
While Sikandar has struggled in many regions, it has continued to perform well in two major Mumbai theatres – the 991-seater Gaiety and the 818-seater Galaxy. To meet demand, the cinema has even reopened its third screen, ‘Gossip’, which had been closed for an extended period.
About Sikandar
Sikandar marks the first on-screen collaboration between Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the action thriller was made on a budget of ₹200 crore and features Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi in key roles.
Despite its grand scale and star-studded cast, the film is struggling to recover its budget, and its box office fate now depends on the coming weekend’s performance.
