Lokesh Kanagaraj’s highly anticipated film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, continues to generate buzz, especially after the release of behind-the-scenes (BTS) pictures on the director’s birthday (March 14). Among the various images, Shruti Haasan’s simple and de-glam look has particularly caught the internet’s attention.
In the BTS stills, Shruti Haasan is seen wearing a modest salwar-kameez with her hair neatly braided. Ditching heavy makeup, she embraces a natural look, adding authenticity to her character. In one of the pictures, she is engaged in a discussion with director Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Other images from the set feature Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, and Sathyaraj in conversation with the filmmaker. Sharing the exclusive stills, the production team wrote, “Team #Coolie wishes the captain of the ship, @lokesh.kanagaraj a super happy birthday! Here are exclusive stills from the sets of #Coolie.”
Lokesh Kanagaraj had previously revealed the film’s first-look poster in March 2023. The striking grayscale image showcased Rajinikanth in a denim shirt, bound by a chain of wristwatches, with a clock in the background. The director later confirmed the official title of Coolie on April 22, 2024, marking the actor’s 171st film.
Adding to the excitement, Coolie boasts a star-studded cast, including Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, and Monisha Blessy. The film’s music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while action choreographers Anbu-Arivu are onboard to design the film’s high-octane sequences.
Backed by Sun Pictures, Coolie is expected to hit theaters in 2025, promising a mix of action and drama with Rajinikanth in yet another powerful role. Fans eagerly await more updates as production progresses.
