Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared insights into the film’s box office performance, highlighting its consistent success throughout the first week. Adarsh noted, “#Shaitaan packs a FANTASTIC SCORE in Week 1… Metros, Tier 2 centres, mass belt, heartland – the supernatural-thriller has found acceptance across the board.” The film’s first-week box office collection stood at ₹81.60 crore, indicating its strong hold at the box office despite new releases.
Critics have weighed in on “Shaitaan,” with film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarding it 1.5 out of 5 stars. Chatterjee praised director Vikas Bahl for skillfully adapting the script from “Vash,” creating a tense atmosphere as a family confronts an evil intruder with supernatural abilities during a weekend vacation. The performances of Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Janki Bodiwala, and Jyothika have been commended for adding depth to the narrative.
