Shah Rukh Khan to Pursue 'More Age-Real' Role in Next Film, Eyes Action Genre

Renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan recently disclosed his aspirations for his upcoming cinematic venture, expressing a desire to embrace a more age-appropriate portrayal in his future projects, particularly focusing on an action-oriented film.

In an interview with Raya Abirached, Shah Rukh Khan shed light on his plans for his next cinematic endeavor, aiming for a portrayal that resonates more authentically with his age. The actor emphasized the challenge of maintaining the charismatic charm that characterized his earlier roles from two decades ago. He expressed, “It does get a little tiring trying to bring in that kind of charm which existed 20 years ago.”

Detailing his intentions for his forthcoming project, Shah Rukh Khan revealed his plan to commence filming around March or April, emphasizing the need for a role that aligns with his age while allowing him to remain a central figure in the narrative. He highlighted the rarity in Indian cinema of portraying age realistically while still maintaining a prominent star presence, expressing a desire to explore a new kind of charm that resonates more with his current phase of life.

Reflecting on his recent involvement with Rajkumar Hirani’s film “Dunki,” Shah Rukh Khan praised the heartfelt essence of the film, citing it as a poignant exploration of the concept of home and life’s complexities that pull individuals away from their roots. He credited his attraction to a Rajkumar Hirani project to the filmmaker’s storytelling prowess and recounted his earlier associations with Hirani for films like “Munna Bhai MBBS” and “3 Idiots,” which were stalled due to health and timing constraints.

“Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, debuted in theaters on Thursday, gathering ₹30 crore nett at the domestic box office on its opening day, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.com. The film, a comedic drama revolving around the concept of illegal immigration known as ‘donkey flight,’ features Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover in pivotal roles. Exploring themes of friendship, borders, nostalgia, and love, the film marks Shah Rukh Khan’s third release in 2023, following the action-packed blockbusters “Pathaan” and “Jawan.”
