Bollywood’s newest star kid on the block, Rasha Thadani, made quite the impression with her powerful screen presence and killer expressions in the dance number ‘Uyi Amma’ from her debut film Azaad. While the movie opposite Aaman Devgan—Ajay Devgn’s nephew—didn’t set the box office on fire, Rasha’s performance caught the spotlight when the film dropped on OTT.
Now, in a recent interview with BBC Asian Network, Rasha opened up about the person behind her unforgettable performance: her mother, Raveena Tandon. The veteran actress, known for her own iconic moves and expressions in the ’90s, played a hands-on role in preparing her daughter for her big break.
“She used to make me sit and watch Rekha ji’s performances, Saroj ji’s performances and even Sadhana ji’s performances,” Rasha said. “She would break it down for me and say, ‘Okay see her expression here, this is a happy expression but see how she’s done it, see her eyes, see her lips.’”
The 19-year-old budding actor revealed that Raveena didn’t just let her watch performances for fun. Instead, she turned it into a lesson in classic Bollywood acting and expression. Rasha recalled watching the legendary number Jhumka Gira Re featuring Sadhana and being in absolute awe. “I was watching it and I was like in awe… I wish I could be like that one day,” she shared.
Audiences seem to believe that she’s already on the right track. With critics and fans praising her expressive dancing, Rasha is being hailed as one of the most promising newcomers among the latest batch of star kids, even drawing comparisons to Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor.
As she gears up for more projects, the industry is watching closely to see how Rasha carves her path forward in Bollywood—guided by legacy, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the craft passed down by her iconic mother.
