Ranveer Allahbadia Opens Up on ‘India’s Got Latent’ Controversy: “Lost Health, Reputation, Mental Peace”

Popular YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, has broken his silence on the ongoing fallout from the controversial YouTube show India’s Got Latent. In a recent Instagram Q&A session, the 31-year-old revealed the heavy emotional, financial, and professional toll the backlash has taken on him, following an FIR and public outrage over a sexually explicit segment from the now-deleted show.

The controversy erupted earlier this year after a clip from India’s Got Latent went viral, featuring Allahbadia asking an inappropriate question involving parents. The segment sparked widespread criticism and led to multiple FIRs filed against him and fellow creators including comedian Samay Raina, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, influencer Apoorva Mukhija, and stand-up comic Jaspreet Singh. Authorities from Maharashtra and Assam initiated investigations, and the National Human Rights Commission flagged the content as potentially harmful to minors.

In response to a follower asking what he lost due to the controversy, Allahbadia candidly listed: “Health, money, opportunity, repute, mental health, peace, parents’ contentment & much more.” He added, “Gained: Transformation, spiritual growth, toughness. Will slowly work towards getting back everything that’s lost. Let the work speak.”

Emotional Impact on Family and Team

Allahbadia said the most painful part was seeing his parents disappointed. “When your actions have an impact on your loved ones… that hurt the most. But both my parents are warriors,” he said.

He also expressed concern for his team, stating, “That I let down the families of my team members because of my mistake. People don’t understand how many jobs are at stake. Quickly wrote off my career and hence the careers of 300+ people.”

Solidarity with Fellow Creators

Despite the backlash, Allahbadia said his bond with the other creators involved in the show has strengthened. Speaking about Samay Raina, he shared, “Samay will be back. All of us have gotten closer after the events… My brother is a media legend. God is watching over all of us.”

Raina had earlier taken down all episodes of India’s Got Latent and assured full cooperation with authorities. Both he and Allahbadia recently appeared before Maharashtra Cyber for questioning under charges of obscenity.

Lessons Learned and Path to Recovery

Allahbadia reflected on the ordeal as a transformative chapter in his life. “Start Yoga early in life… A calm mind is earned. The calmness helped a lot. Tough chapters must be met with tough routines,” he said, adding that he still hasn’t fully recovered and that many things continue to happen “behind the scenes.”

Following the backlash, he also publicly apologised, stating, “Comedy is not my forte,” and sought protection from coercive action in the multiple FIRs filed against him by approaching the Supreme Court.

Despite the challenges, Allahbadia remains optimistic. “Picture abhi baaki hai [The story isn’t over yet],” he said, signaling his intent to rebuild and move forward.
