Allu Arjun-starrer continues its stellar box office run despite controversies surrounding a tragic stampede incident.
Box Office Performance
Sukumar’s highly-anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, remains a box office juggernaut. According to Sacnilk.com, the film has crossed ₹1074.85 crore globally, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
On its 19th day, the film garnered ₹12.25 crore, marking its lowest single-day collection to date. It previously earned ₹10.65 crore during its premiere on December 4 and ₹164.25 crore on its opening day. The film raked in ₹725.8 crore in its first week and ₹264.8 crore in the second week in India alone.
Stampede Controversy and Legal Developments
The box office success of Pushpa 2 has been overshadowed by the stampede incident during its premiere at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, which tragically resulted in a woman’s death. The controversy intensified as Allu Arjun was summoned to the Chikkadpally police station for questioning regarding the incident.
Adding to the turmoil, Allu Arjun’s Hyderabad residence was vandalized by alleged members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU JAC). Addressing the media, Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind, condemned the actions but urged patience, stating, “The law will take its own course.”
A Hyderabad court granted bail to six individuals involved in the vandalism. Meanwhile, Arjun denied allegations that he was indifferent to the tragedy, calling the accusations “character assassination.”
Producer’s Contribution to Victim’s Family
To support the grieving family, producer Naveen Yerneni of Mythri Movie Makers donated ₹50 lakh. The gesture has been widely appreciated amid the ongoing controversy.
