Nayanthara, the celebrated South Indian superstar, made a remarkable Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster release, ‘Jawan.’ While fans applauded her chemistry with SRK, recent reports suggest that the actress may be upset with director Atlee over her role in the film.
In ‘Jawan,’ Nayanthara portrayed the role of Narmada Rai, a formidable special agent. The on-screen chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara received acclaim, with the chart-topping song ‘Chaleya’ adding to the movie’s charm. However, according to an insider speaking to Hindustan Times, Nayanthara was left displeased as her role reportedly underwent significant editing, while Deepika Padukone’s character was elevated in the final cut.
Deepika Padukone makes a “special appearance” in the film as the wife of Vikram Rathod, played by SRK. The source mentioned, “It was not a cameo at all. ‘Jawan’ was almost made to look like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is the leading actor down south, and hence, she was not happy with the treatment of ‘Jawan.’ This might be a reason why we might not see her in a Bollywood project, at least not anytime soon.”
Addressing Nayanthara’s absence from promotional events and success press meets, the source clarified that the actress follows a “no promotion policy” due to past misquotes and a belief that her primary role is to act, not engage in promotional activities.
Despite any reported differences, Shah Rukh Khan himself praised Nayanthara’s talent and beauty during one of his “Ask SRK” sessions on social media. He said, “She [Nayanthara] is so beautiful and such a wonderful actor. Has added immensely to her role. Hope her fans in Tamil Nadu fall in love with her all over again and the Hindi audience appreciates her hard work.”
Nayanthara’s debut in Bollywood undoubtedly garnered attention, and fans will be eager to see how her career unfolds in the Hindi film industry, regardless of any reported challenges along the way.
