“Mohini Dey Announces Separation from Husband Shortly After AR Rahman Confirms Split with Saira Banu”

AR Rahman and Mohini Dey Announce Separations, Request Privacy and No Judgments

In a series of unexpected announcements on Tuesday, renowned composer AR Rahman and his bassist Mohini Dey revealed their respective marital separations, drawing attention from fans and well-wishers alike.

AR Rahman and Saira Banu Part Ways After 29 Years

On Tuesday evening, AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 1995 and share three children, cited “significant emotional strain” in their relationship as the reason for their decision.

Rahman shared an emotional note on Twitter shortly after midnight, stating, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”

The announcement has left fans expressing their support and hoping for healing for the iconic composer and his family.

Mohini Dey and Mark Hartsuch End Their Marriage

Just hours after Rahman’s announcement, his longtime bassist, Mohini Dey, also revealed her separation from her composer husband, Mark Hartsuch. The couple shared a joint note on Instagram, emphasizing their mutual decision to part ways while maintaining their professional collaboration.

“With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life, and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed,” the note read.

Mohini assured fans that their artistic ventures would continue uninterrupted. “We will still be working on several projects together, including MaMoGi and Mohini Dey groups. We have always prided ourselves on working well together, and that will not be stopping any time soon,” she added.

The 29-year-old bassist, who has performed with Rahman in over 40 shows worldwide and released her self-titled debut album in August 2023, requested fans to respect their decision. “Please honor the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgments,” the statement concluded.

Support and Respect Requested

Both announcements underline the challenges of balancing personal relationships with high-profile careers. Fans and colleagues have poured in messages of support for the two families, respecting their requests for privacy and understanding.

As these musical stalwarts navigate their personal journeys, the spotlight remains on their remarkable contributions to the industry and their enduring collaborations.
