Malayalam superstar Mammootty is in good health, his PR team has confirmed, dismissing recent rumours about a cancer diagnosis. The speculation had been circulating online, but a statement from his representatives has put an end to the false claims.
According to Mammootty’s PR team, the actor is currently on a short break from his work commitments to observe Ramzan fasting. Speaking to a Mumbai-based publication, the team clarified, “It is fake news. He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramzan. He is on a break from his shoot schedule as well because of that. In fact, after the break, he will go back to shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film with Mohanlal.”
Mammootty’s much-anticipated film with Mohanlal is tentatively titled MMMN. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the film also stars Nayanthara in a crucial role. Last month, a video released by Anto Joseph Film Company showed Nayanthara receiving a warm welcome from the MMMN team.
Mammootty and Mohanlal, two of the biggest icons of Malayalam cinema, have collaborated on several projects in the past, including Avidathepole Ivideyum, Adiyozhukkukal, Karimpinpoovinakkare, Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu, Adhwaytham, Vishnulokam, and No.20 Madras Mail. Similarly, Mammootty has previously shared screen space with Nayanthara in films like Rapakal, Thaskara Veeran, Bhaskar the Rascal, and Puthiya Niyamam.
The star-studded MMMN cast also includes Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman, Danish Husain, Revathi, Zarin Shihab, Darshana Rajendran, Renji Panicker, and Rajiv Menon. Reports suggest that the film’s production will span over 150 days, with shooting planned across multiple locations, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Visakhapatnam, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Abu Dhabi, and London.
Meanwhile, Mammootty was last seen in the crime comedy Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, directed by Gautham Menon, where he played a private detective. Up next, he is set to appear in Deeno Dennis’ action thriller Bazooka and Megastar 428, which marks his 428th film.
