At the trailer launch of Netflix’s docu-series The Roshans, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan opened up about the impending re-release of his debut blockbuster Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Despite the film catapulting him to stardom in 2000, Hrithik admitted to feeling apprehensive about how today’s audience might react to the iconic movie.
Hrithik’s Mixed Emotions on the Re-Release
The actor shared his anxiety after seeing a still from the film during the event. Reflecting on the 25-year gap, Hrithik candidly said, “I am so afraid the film is releasing again. People will go tomorrow after 25 years and think, ‘What were we thinking back then? It’s nothing like we remember.’”
However, Hrithik also recalled lighter moments during the filming, like his late-night preparation for the popular song Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein. He revealed, “I was told a day before the shoot that I needed to ‘play’ a guitar. I didn’t know how to play, but I stayed up all night imagining the sound of the instrument, trying to perfect my finger movements.”
Years later, Hrithik’s son, who enjoys playing music, pointed out that he had been playing the wrong notes in the movie, a revelation that made the star laugh at his youthful determination.
The Legacy of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai
Released on January 14, 2000, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai became a massive hit, turning Hrithik Roshan into a household name overnight. Directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan, and featuring music composed by his uncle, Rajesh Roshan, the film delivered iconic tracks like Na Tum Jano Na Hum, Dil Ne Dil Ko Pukara, and the dance anthem Ek Pal Ka Jeena. The film was the second-highest-grossing movie of the year, trailing only Yash Raj’s Mohabbatein.
Now, as the movie gets re-released on January 10, coinciding with Hrithik’s birthday, fans are eagerly anticipating revisiting the magic of his debut performance.
The Roshans Docu-Series
The re-release coincides with the launch of Netflix’s four-part docu-series, The Roshans, premiering on January 17. The series delves into the illustrious journey of the Roshan family, from the legendary Roshan Lal to Rajesh, Rakesh, and Hrithik Roshan.
While Hrithik’s nervousness about the re-release is palpable, fans see it as a chance to relive the nostalgia of one of Bollywood’s most celebrated debuts.
