Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh made a stunning debut at the 2025 Met Gala, turning heads with his royal Punjabi ensemble and winning hearts with his cultural pride. But it wasn’t just his blue carpet moment that set the internet ablaze—Diljit later joined global music icons Shakira and Nicole Scherzinger for an exclusive dinner hosted by Vogue’s Anna Wintour, marking a rare star-studded gathering.
Photos shared by Dosanjh’s team showed the singer-actor sharing a regal frame with Shakira and Scherzinger, exuding effortless glamour and commanding presence. In another image that went viral, Dosanjh stood alongside global power couple Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, with Shakira joining the moment, creating a true visual feast for fans around the world.
For his Met Gala debut, Diljit embraced the evening’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme with a “Black Dandyism”-inspired look. Styled by renowned designer Prabal Gurung, the ensemble fused traditional Indian elements with contemporary flair. Diljit wore a majestic Maharaja-style floor-length cape, adorned with delicate floral embroidery. His outfit was elevated with luxurious gemstone accessories—emeralds, rubies, and pearls—along with a ceremonial sword and gold-embroidered waistband.
Taking to Instagram, Diljit proudly wrote, “MAIN HOON Punjab #metgala. Inspired by The Theme of Black Dandyism, I Bring My Turban, My Culture & My Mother Tongue ‘Punjabi’ to The MET GALA.”
This year’s Met Gala dress code, “Tailored for You,” celebrated suiting and menswear influenced by Black style and identity. Inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the event was co-chaired by Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James serving as honorary co-chair.
Fresh off the heels of his globally acclaimed Dil-luminati Tour, Diljit is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming single Buck, a highly anticipated collaboration with K-pop sensation Jackson Wang, set to drop on May 9.
With his Met Gala appearance, Diljit Dosanjh not only made a historic fashion statement but also brought Punjabi culture to one of fashion’s most prestigious stages—leaving a lasting impression on the global audience.
