In Mumbai, a visit by comedian Munawar Faruqui to a sweet shop on Mohammed Ali Road turned chaotic when a brawl broke out, resulting in egg pelting and the involvement of the Mumbai police. Seven individuals, including the owners and staff of Mashaallah Cuisine restaurant, have been booked for their role in the incident.
The altercation began in the early hours of Wednesday when Munawar Faruqui visited Noorani Milk Centre (NMC) at the invitation of owner Akhtar Noorani. However, tensions escalated when Faruqui declined an invitation from the owners of Mashaallah Cuisine, located opposite NMC. This refusal reportedly sparked anger among Abdula Naseer Shaikh and Rehman Naseer Shaikh, owners of Mashaallah Cuisine, due to a prior dispute with NMC’s owners.
Subsequently, Abdula and Rehman, along with their staff, launched an attack on NMC, including pelting eggs and hurling abuse at the owners and staff. The Mumbai police intervened promptly, bringing the situation under control and taking both parties to the police station. Following investigations, the police registered an offense against the Mashaallah owners and their staff under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The individuals booked face charges including unlawful assembly, rioting, assault, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation. The incident serves as a reminder of the need for peaceful conflict resolution and respect for law and order in public spaces.
