“CBFC Approval Granted to Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan Without Edits, Film’s Length Exceeds 3 Hours”

Ajay Devgn's "Maidaan" Gets CBFC Approval Without Cuts, Film's Length Exceeds 3 Hours

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given its approval to “Maidaan,” the highly anticipated film starring Ajay Devgn, without any cuts. The news comes as a relief to the film’s team, especially considering the film’s runtime, which reportedly exceeds three hours.

According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, “Maidaan” clocks in at over three hours in length, making it a substantial cinematic experience for viewers. Despite its lengthy duration, the CBFC found no reason to trim any scenes or dialogues from the film. Instead, the board requested the addition of a disclaimer to clarify certain aspects.

The CBFC’s approval included a directive to insert a disclaimer stating that “Maidaan” is a work of fiction inspired by true events available in the public domain, incorporating the perspectives of legendary football players and the research of the film’s writers with fictional elements. The disclaimer also highlights that certain dialogues are used for dramatic purposes and that the film does not aim to promote lawlessness.

Additionally, the CBFC mandated the inclusion of an anti-smoking ticker in scenes depicting characters smoking and specified the inclusion of end credits in both Hindi and English.

Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, “Maidaan” revolves around the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, portrayed by Ajay Devgn, who played a pivotal role in elevating Indian football on the global stage. The film also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh in key roles.

The journey of “Maidaan” hasn’t been without challenges, as production faced disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the aftermath of Cyclone Tauktae in 2021. Despite these hurdles, the film is set to hit theaters on April 10, offering audiences a blend of captivating storytelling and a musical score by AR Rahman.
