Veteran Bollywood legend Dharmendra proved once again that age is just a number as he stole the spotlight at the premiere of his son Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Jaat in Mumbai. At 89, the iconic actor lit up the red carpet not just with his presence but with a spirited bhangra performance to the beat of the dhol, winning hearts both at the venue and across social media.
The Jaat screening, held on April 9, witnessed Dharmendra in high spirits despite recently undergoing eye surgery. Dressed in a casual shirt and pants, paired with a cap, the legendary actor waved to fans and posed for the paparazzi before joining the dhol players in a spontaneous dance that drew loud cheers from onlookers.
A video capturing Dharmendra’s energetic dhol-side jig quickly surfaced online and is garnering widespread appreciation. His warm smile and joyous moves became the highlight of the evening, as fans and photographers celebrated the veteran actor’s exuberance and show of support for his son’s new venture.
Sunny Deol, who stars in Jaat, was also seen dancing to the dhol alongside his co-stars at the event. The film is directed by Gopichand Malineni and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, known for blockbuster hits like Pushpa. Jaat is described as a high-octane drama packed with intense action and will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on April 10. The film boasts a stellar cast including Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh, Saiyami Kher, and Regina Cassandra.
Earlier this month, Dharmendra was spotted wearing an eye patch, revealing he had undergone an eye graft. In a video clip that circulated on April 1, the actor said, “Abhi bhi bohot damm hai, bohot jaan rakhta hoon… Mere aankh mein graft hua hai.” A source close to the family confirmed that it was cataract surgery and assured that Dharmendra was doing well post-operation.
Dharmendra was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024) alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. He is next set to appear in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, co-starring Agastya Nanda.
