Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is set to make a comeback for yet another sequel, as announced by the official handle of production house T-Series. Following the triumphs of “Singham Again” and “Raid 2,” Devgn will once again step into his character’s shoes for “De De Pyaar De 2,” the follow-up to the popular 2019 romantic comedy.
Directed by Anshul Sharma and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan, and Ankur Garg, “De De Pyaar De 2” is scheduled to hit the screens on May 1, 2025. The film will see Luv Ranjan returning as the co-writer and co-producer, maintaining continuity from its predecessor, albeit with a fresh director at the helm.
The original “De De Pyaar De,” helmed by Luv Ranjan himself, featured Ajay Devgn alongside Rakul Preet Singh and Tabu in pivotal roles. The story revolved around Aashish Mehra (played by Devgn), a 50-year-old NRI investor entangled in a complex love triangle between his younger girlfriend Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh) and his ex-wife Manju (Tabu), leading to humorous and heartwarming situations.
The 2019 rom-com, which marked the directorial debut of Akiv Ali, garnered praise for its witty screenplay and stellar performances, earning a remarkable ₹143 crore at the box office. With the sequel on the horizon, fans anticipate another dose of entertaining storytelling and captivating chemistry between the lead characters.
While Ajay Devgn is confirmed to reprise his role, there’s uncertainty regarding the return of co-stars Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh. However, with the film’s production underway, further casting announcements are awaited.
Prior to his involvement in “De De Pyaar De 2,” Ajay Devgn is slated to feature in two other highly anticipated sequels – Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again” and “Raid 2,” both co-produced by T-Series. Meanwhile, Devgn’s recent venture, Vikas Bahl’s “Shaitaan,” has been performing well at the box office, further solidifying his position as a versatile and bankable actor in the Indian film industry.
With an exciting lineup of projects on the horizon, including “Maidaan” and “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha,” Ajay Devgn continues to captivate audiences with his diverse roles and impressive performances, promising an exciting cinematic journey ahead.
