Indian Idol Season 12 winner Pawandeep Rajan has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Delhi-NCR after suffering multiple injuries in a serious road accident. The incident took place early morning on May 5 near Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, while he was en route to Delhi to catch a flight to Ahmedabad for an event.
According to a statement released by his team on Tuesday via Instagram Stories, Pawandeep initially received emergency care at a nearby facility before being transferred to a more advanced hospital in Delhi-NCR. “He has suffered multiple major fractures and a few minor injuries,” the team said.
On Monday, Pawandeep underwent a complex six-hour-long surgery to address some of the critical fractures. “He was struggling with severe pain and unconsciousness. However, after extensive diagnostics and evaluation, he was taken into surgery around 7 PM. The operation lasted six hours, and he is now in the Medical ICU under close observation,” read the statement.
Doctors have planned another surgery after 3–4 days of rest to treat the remaining injuries. His team expressed gratitude to fans, friends, and family for their constant support and prayers, noting that the singer is now “doing absolutely fine.”
Earlier, Fortis Hospital in Noida confirmed in an official statement that Pawandeep is under the care of their orthopaedics team. “He is stable and conscious. He will undergo a series of sequential surgeries. Our clinical team is monitoring him closely and providing all necessary care,” the hospital stated.
The crash occurred around 2:30 AM on National Highway-9 near Chaupala Chauraha overbridge in Gajraula when Pawandeep’s SUV collided with a stationary canter truck. The truck had reportedly broken down by the roadside.
Besides Pawandeep, the SUV’s driver Rahul Singh and another passenger Ajay Mehra were also injured in the accident. All three were initially treated at a local hospital by bystanders before being shifted to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment.
Fans across the country have flooded social media with prayers and well wishes for the young singer’s speedy recovery.
