Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated sequel, Jailer 2, has officially begun filming. The announcement was made by the makers on Monday, exciting fans worldwide. The film will see Rajinikanth reprise his role as Muthuvel Pandian, continuing the legacy of the 2023 blockbuster Jailer.
Sun Pictures, the production house behind the film, took to Instagram to share a new poster of Jailer 2 with the caption, “Muthuvel Pandian’s hunt begins! #Jailer2 shoot starts today.”
Jailer 2: A Power-Packed Sequel
The sequel marks director Nelson Dilipkumar’s second collaboration with Rajinikanth. In January, the makers had teased Jailer 2 with a special announcement video on YouTube. The teaser featured Nelson Dilipkumar and musician Anirudh Ravichander casually brainstorming ideas at a Goa beach house, hinting at their excitement for the upcoming film.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 has kept its star cast under wraps. However, given the massive success of its predecessor, expectations are high for another power-packed lineup of actors.
Jailer: A Box Office Phenomenon
Released in 2023, Jailer was a massive hit, becoming one of the highest-grossing Tamil films ever. The film followed the gripping story of a former jail warden seeking revenge after his son goes missing and is presumed dead.
The cast included Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, and Yogi Babu in key roles, while cinema icons Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff made notable cameo appearances.
Tamannaah Bhatia on Working with Rajinikanth
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, who made waves with her electrifying dance number Kaavaalaa in Jailer, recently opened up about her experience working with Rajinikanth. Speaking on Raj Shamani’s podcast, she said, “He is the purest person you will ever meet. Despite his age and the sheer number of films he has done, he remains the most humble person. He is a demi-god, and his humility is truly genuine.”
Rajinikanth’s Upcoming Projects
Apart from Jailer 2, Rajinikanth is also set to star in director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, adding another highly anticipated project to his lineup.
