The highly anticipated sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, is setting the stage for a blockbuster release. With less than a month until its premiere on December 5, the film has already surpassed the pre-sales numbers of its predecessor Pushpa: The Rise, bringing in $415,000 in North American pre-sales alone.
Advance Booking and Anticipation
The pre-sales for Pushpa 2 are soaring, as the film’s North American premiere on December 4 will see it featured in 715 locations across 2,750 screens. This far outstrips the pre-release success of Pushpa: The Rise, which made approximately $400,000 during its premiere despite being released in the midst of the pandemic. As of Wednesday morning, the film’s team reported over 15,000 tickets sold in the U.S., with additional bookings expected to open soon in Canada.
The demand is just as high in India, where Pushpa 2: The Rule tops popular search lists on the BookMyShow app. The first installment, Pushpa: The Rise, ultimately grossed $2.5 million in North America during its theatrical run, and with a larger fan base and higher pre-sales, Pushpa 2 is expected to quickly surpass that mark.
A Financial Success Even Before Release
At a recent press conference in Hyderabad, producer Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movies revealed that Pushpa 2 had already brought in over ₹425 crore in non-theatrical rights, which has pushed the total business for the film near the ₹1000 crore mark. These impressive figures highlight the anticipation and success expected for the movie, both in India and internationally.
