Vishal Dadlani Bids Farewell to Indian Idol After Six Seasons: Says It’s Time to Focus on Music Again

Vishal Dadlani Bids Farewell to Indian Idol After 6 Seasons: "Time to Get Back to Making Music"

Music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani has officially exited the popular singing reality show Indian Idol after a six-year stint, citing a desire to return to his musical roots and reclaim his time.

After judging six consecutive seasons of Indian Idol since 2018, Vishal Dadlani announced his departure from the show through an emotional video and heartfelt note shared on Instagram. Accompanied by fellow judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah in the clip, Vishal expressed gratitude and nostalgia for the platform that had become his second home over the years.

“That’s all from me, folks! Six straight seasons later, tonight is my last episode as a judge on Indian Idol,” Vishal wrote. He added, “I hope the show will miss me as much as I’ll miss it. I’m literally only leaving because I want my time back. Can’t stay stuck in Mumbai for 6 months each year!”

The singer-composer, known for his electrifying performances and candid feedback on the show, further added, “It’s time to get back to making music, playing concerts, and almost never putting on make-up. It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!”

In his farewell message, Vishal thanked his co-judges, host Aditya Narayan, and the entire production team — from musicians and tech crew to cleaning staff and photographers. “Haqq se zyada pyaar milaa hai, iss show ki vajah se. Eternally grateful to everyone involved,” he shared.

Indian Idol host Aditya Narayan responded emotionally, calling it “the end of an era.” He wrote, “Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. Grateful for all the great times together.”

Vishal Dadlani has been a staple on the Indian music scene for decades, known for blockbuster tracks in films like Om Shanti Om, Dostana, War, Sultan, and many more. While stepping away from television, he assured fans that he’ll be back full throttle in the world of live music and recording.

Season 15 of Indian Idol recently concluded with Manasi Ghosh being crowned the winner.
