Malayalam actress Vincy Aloshious, who recently filed a formal complaint against actor Shine Tom Chacko for inappropriate behaviour on the sets of a film, has now expressed willingness to withdraw her complaint. She stated her disappointment over the leak of the actor’s name and emphasized that he should not be denied opportunities due to the incident.
Vincy had earlier accused Shine of behaving inappropriately under the influence of drugs during the shoot of the yet-to-be-released movie Soothravakyam. The complaint was submitted to both the Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
In a statement quoted by Kerala Kaumudi, Vincy said, “I made it clear to the authorities that the lead actor’s name should not be made public. It is a breach of trust. One person’s mistake is now going to affect an entire movie. This should not happen. This is why I refrained from publicly naming the actor. I am extremely grateful for the support I received from cinema organisations. The actor should not be denied work as he is massively talented. Let’s allow him to rectify his mistakes.”
She added that she will look into how Shine Tom Chacko’s name was leaked to television channels before officially withdrawing the complaint. Vincy stressed that her intention was not to sabotage a project or destroy a career, but to ensure a safe and respectful working environment.
Earlier, Vincy spoke at a “Say No to Drugs” campaign event, where she stated that she would refuse to act in films where she knew someone was under the influence. Following this, she shared on social media that one of the main actors in her film had made her uncomfortable by using drugs and trying to interfere with her costume adjustments. She did not name Shine Tom Chacko in that post.
On April 17, she formally submitted complaints to both the Film Chamber and AMMA. AMMA ad hoc committee convenor Jayan Cherthala assured full support to the actress.
The development has sparked discussions within the Malayalam film industry about workplace safety, substance abuse, and accountability without career destruction.
