Vikrant Massey’s portrayal of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s biographical drama “12th Fail” is making waves globally, with the film set to release in over 20,000 screens across China.

“12th Fail,” which premiered in theatres on October 27, 2023, garnered widespread acclaim after its OTT release, earning praise from industry stalwarts like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, and Katrina Kaif.

In a recent interview with India Today, Vikrant Massey shared insights about the film’s upcoming release in China. He expressed excitement about the film’s reception in a new market, highlighting the growing demand for Indian cinema in China’s entertainment sector.

While discussing the promotional plans for “12th Fail” in China, Vikrant Massey mentioned that it is too early to confirm if he will travel for promotions. He noted the significance of this release, drawing parallels with Aamir Khan’s successful promotions in China for films like “Dangal” (2016) and “3 Idiots” (2009).

The decision to release “12th Fail” in over 20,000 screens in China reflects the growing global appeal of Indian cinema. Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the film delves into the challenges faced by UPSC aspirants, based on real-life experiences and inspired by Anurag Pathak’s novel.

“12th Fail” follows the journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rises from poverty to become an IPS officer, encapsulating the struggles and aspirations of millions of students aiming for success in the UPSC entrance exam.

Vikrant Massey’s portrayal of the young Manoj from Chambal, alongside Medha Shankr’s portrayal of IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, adds depth to the narrative, showcasing the resilience and determination of individuals pursuing their dreams against all odds.
