The box office saga of ‘Kushi,’ starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has taken a fascinating turn as it continues to captivate audiences across India. The romantic musical, which opened to a stellar response on Friday, faced a noticeable dip in collections on Saturday, bringing in ₹9 crore, according to early estimates reported by Sacnilk.com. This drop followed a stunning opening day figure of ₹15.25 crore, bringing the film’s two-day total to a commendable ₹24.25 crore nett.
Despite the Saturday slowdown, ‘Kushi’ has made an impressive mark, with its global collections reaching ₹30.1 crore on its opening day. The news was shared by the film’s producer, Mythri Movie Makers, on their official X (formerly Twitter) page, celebrating the film’s status as a “Blockbuster Family Entertainer.”
Directed by Shiva Nirvana, known for his work on ‘Majili,’ ‘Kushi’ marks the second collaboration between Vijay and Samantha, following their appearance in the 2018 Telugu biographical drama ‘Mahanati,’ based on the life of actor Savitri.
‘Kushi’ weaves a captivating tale of Aaradhya and Viplav, portrayed by Samantha and Vijay, who discover love amidst the scenic backdrop of Kashmir. Despite family opposition due to mismatched horoscopes, they decide to tie the knot, only to encounter challenges that test the strength of their relationship before eventually finding common ground.
Speaking about his character, Viplav, Vijay Deverakonda shared, “You know you are Viplav, and Aradhya (Sam) is your wife or girlfriend when you watch ‘Kushi.’ Vijay emphasized that ‘Kushi’ is the story of an ordinary couple, and it’s this relatability that makes the film truly special.
Reflecting on his experience working with Samantha and director Shiva, Vijay Deverakonda expressed, “The entire process of shooting it will be one of my favorite memories forever. The two persons I spent the most time with, shared the most memories and highs and lows with, and developed the closest connections with were Shiva and Samantha. I’ll always find it fun to reflect on how this movie was made.”
‘Kushi’ continues to win hearts and is poised to achieve even greater milestones as it charms audiences with its compelling storyline and remarkable performances.
