“Telangana Government Rejects 1 AM Show for Game Changer, Approves Ticket Price Hikes for Ram Charan’s Film”

Telangana Government Approves Ticket Hikes and Extra Shows for Ram Charan's 'Game Changer', Denies Permission for 1 AM Show

The Telangana government has granted approval for multiple shows and a hike in ticket prices for the much-anticipated film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, set to release on January 10. However, the government has taken a stringent approach by denying permission for the film’s 1 AM show, despite the Andhra Pradesh government approving benefit shows starting as early as 1 AM.

Game Changer, directed by Shankar, marks the filmmaker’s first foray into Telugu cinema. The movie’s release is being closely followed by fans, particularly after the controversy surrounding the Pushpa 2 stampede tragedy in Sandhya Theatre. The Telangana government, taking precautions in light of the incident, has set limitations on show timings while also allowing for increased ticket prices. A government order, passed on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that the state has approved six shows on the opening day, with five additional shows scheduled daily until January 19.

Ticket prices for Game Changer will see an increase of ₹150, including GST, for multiplexes, and ₹100 for single-screen theatres on the opening day. For the subsequent nine days, the hikes will remain, with ₹100 added in multiplexes and ₹50 in single screens.

While the denial of the 1 AM show is notable, it is part of a broader effort by the Telangana government to encourage responsible cinema screening. The government has approved the screening of advertisements focused on raising awareness about issues like cybercrime and narcotics during these benefit shows, aligning with its new regulatory guidelines for theatres.

About Game Changer

In addition to Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, the film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Anjali, Samuthirakani, SJ Suryah, and Srikanth. The film, which has a budget exceeding ₹400 crore, is a significant production, with ₹75 crore allocated to shooting its songs, composed by Thaman S. The story of Game Changer was written by Karthik Subbaraj, and it will be released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Ram Charan’s fans are particularly excited for his return to the big screen after the global success of RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli. Meanwhile, Shankar’s previous film, Indian 2, did not have the desired impact, making expectations for Game Changer even higher.

With the film’s high production values and the excitement surrounding its release, Game Changer is expected to be one of the major box-office events of the year.
