
Veteran Bollywood actor Tabu is set to collaborate with acclaimed South Indian actor Vijay Sethupathi for an upcoming pan-India film directed by the dynamic Puri Jagannadh. The yet-to-be-titled project promises to be a cinematic spectacle, produced under Puri Jagannadh’s banner, Puri Connects, along with long-time collaborator Charmme Kaur.
The announcement was made official on Thursday via the production house’s Instagram page, which shared a photo of Tabu with director Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur. The post introduced Tabu with high praise, stating, “She’s electric. She’s explosive. She’s THE TABU… for a role as dynamic as her presence.”
A Pan-India Vision
The film, which marks the first collaboration between Tabu and Vijay Sethupathi, was first teased on March 30, during the Ugadi celebrations. It is set to be a pan-India release, launching in five languages — Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The team has locked June as the start date for shooting.
In his Ugadi post, Jagannadh shared his excitement about this “electrifying new chapter,” calling it a “masterpiece in all Indian languages.” The filmmaker is known for his massy commercial hits and promises a high-octane entertainer with this new venture.
Tabu and Vijay Sethupathi’s Upcoming Work
Tabu was last seen in Dune: Prophecy and has several projects lined up, including the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and co-starring Akshay Kumar, Jisshu Sengupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film, with music by Pritam, is expected to release in 2025.
Vijay Sethupathi, known for his versatility, had a packed 2024 with Merry Christmas opposite Katrina Kaif, his milestone 50th film Maharaja, and the much-anticipated Viduthalai Part 2 directed by Vetrimaaran. His upcoming projects include Ace, Train, and another untitled film with director Pandiraj.
With two powerhouse performers and a celebrated director at the helm, the film is already generating significant buzz. Fans can look forward to more updates as the team begins filming in June
