Renowned singer Sonu Nigam has dismissed reports of stone-throwing at his recent concert at Delhi Technological University’s (DTU) Engifest 2025. Instead, he revealed that a vape was hurled onto the stage, hitting one of his band members, Subhankar, on the chest.
Taking to Instagram, Sonu Nigam shared his side of the story, stating, “Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU.” He further clarified, “There was one vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar’s chest, and that’s when I was informed about it.”
Sonu Nigam’s Response to the Crowd
Upon learning about the incident, the singer paused the performance and issued a stern warning to the students. He reminded them that any further unruly behavior could lead to the concert being stopped abruptly. Fortunately, the students complied, and after that, the only object tossed on stage was a “Pookie hairband,” which Sonu Nigam humorously acknowledged.
“The only thing hurled on stage after that was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie,” he wrote in his Instagram note.
Viral Moments from the Concert
Several videos from the concert have since gone viral on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter). In one clip, Sonu Nigam was seen wearing a pink bunny hairband—a playful moment that delighted the audience. He also performed his iconic song “Tumse Milke Dil Ka” from Main Hoon Na, featuring Shah Rukh Khan.
Despite the brief disruption, Sonu Nigam ensured that the event remained an enjoyable experience for fans. However, he also emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum and respect during live performances.
This is not the first time Sonu Nigam has encountered unruly audiences. Last month, he expressed his frustration over a similar incident during his Kolkata performance, where the crowd’s behavior had left him visibly upset.
Conclusion
While the DTU concert saw some initial disruptions, Sonu Nigam handled the situation with grace and humor, ensuring that the music and celebrations continued smoothly. His response to the incident underscores the challenges artists face while performing live and the importance of audience discipline at large-scale events.
