The much-anticipated South Korean romance drama My Youth has officially confirmed its leading stars. Song Joong Ki, widely recognized for his role in Vincenzo, will headline the series alongside Chun Woo Hee, known for her work in The Atypical Family. The production company, HighZium Studio, announced the casting on August 21, marking the pair’s return to the small screen in a project expected to air in 2025.
Previously rumored to be in talks, Song Joong Ki and Chun Woo Hee have now been confirmed as the main cast members of My Youth. The series, billed as a romance drama, will be written by Park Si Hyun, the talented writer behind the popular JTBC drama Run On. Director Lee Sang Yeop, celebrated for his work on hit shows like Yumi’s Cells, Shopaholic Louis, and Familiar Wife, will direct the series.
Song Joong Ki will portray Sunwoo Hae, a former child actor turned novelist and florist, who is on a quest to reclaim his life after experiencing significant setbacks. Sunwoo, once a prodigious talent, saw his artistic journey derailed by the meddling of greedy adults, leading to his downfall in the entertainment industry.
Chun Woo Hee will take on the role of Sung Je Yeon, a team leader at Feel Entertainment. Raised in an affluent family, Je Yeon has faced her own series of losses and now relies solely on herself to climb the social ladder. The story promises an intriguing intersection of Sunwoo and Je Yeon’s lives, as Je Yeon draws Sunwoo out of his shell to achieve her ambitions, while both characters undergo significant personal transformations.
Although the broadcasting network for My Youth has yet to be disclosed, the series is reportedly slated for a 2025 release. Speculation about additional casting includes actress Lee Joo Myung, known for her role in Twenty-Five Twenty-One, who was reported in July to be in talks to join the project.
