Salman Khan’s high-octane action drama Sikandar has finally made its digital debut. The film, directed by AR Murugadoss, began streaming on Netflix from May 25, as confirmed by the platform’s official Instagram handle.
Netflix India shared the poster of Sikandar with the caption, “Suna hai bohot log Sikandar ka intezaar kar rahe the? Sikandar aa gaya hai Netflix par raj karne (We have heard many of you were waiting for Sikandar. He is here now to rule on Netflix).” The film marks Salman Khan’s only solo theatrical release this year and has now expanded its reach to the OTT audience.
About the Film
Sikandar revolves around Sanjay Rajkot, a powerful figure who takes on a corrupt political system and turns it upside down. Alongside Salman Khan, the movie features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, and Prateik Babbar in pivotal roles.
Box Office and Reception
Despite drawing criticism for its direction and performances, Sikandar managed to surpass the ₹100 crore mark domestically and earned over ₹200 crore globally. Still, the film was considered an underperformer by Salman Khan’s usual box office standards.
Criticism and Reviews
The Hindustan Times review highlighted Salman’s strong screen presence during action sequences but found fault with Murugadoss’ underwhelming direction. It also noted Rashmika Mandanna’s continuing struggle with dialogue delivery, and pointed out a poorly executed recreation of the iconic Lata Mangeshkar song Lag Jaa Gale, lip-synced by Rashmika’s character and sung by Iulia Vantur.
One of the film’s only self-aware moments, according to the review, came when Rashmika’s character acknowledged the significant age difference between her and Salman with the line, “Hamari umar mein fark zaroor hai, par soch mein nahi (There is a difference in our age but not in thoughts).”
Now Streaming
For fans of action dramas and Salman Khan enthusiasts, Sikandar is now available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
