“Samantha Ruth Prabhu Recalls Nervousness During ‘Oo Antava’ Performance: ‘I Don’t Feel Pretty'”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu Opens Up About Challenges and Growth in Oo Antava Song

Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has candidly shared her experiences and challenges while filming the popular dance number “Oo Antava” from the 2021 movie “Pushpa: The Rise,” starring Allu Arjun alongside her.

In a recent interview with India Today, Samantha revealed that she was initially nervous and “shaking from fear” during the first shot of the song, emphasizing that portraying a “sexy” image is not something she naturally feels comfortable with. Despite this, she acknowledged her growth as an actor and person by facing and overcoming such challenges head-on.

Reflecting on her decision to take on the song, Samantha likened it to her role as Raji in “The Family Man 2,” highlighting the importance of exploring different facets of acting and trusting her instincts. She expressed her discomfort with her own sexuality and self-confidence, stating, “I have always operated from a place like ‘I am not good enough, I don’t feel pretty, I don’t look like the other girls.’”

Addressing the hurdles she faced, Samantha admitted that stepping into a “sexy” persona was a significant challenge for her. However, she emphasized her determination to push herself out of her comfort zone and overcome such obstacles, describing it as “slaying these demons.”

Last year, Samantha had discussed her decision to accept the song amidst personal challenges, including her separation from Naga Chaitanya. Despite concerns from well-wishers and family members, she chose to take on the role as a form of personal growth and professional challenge.

“Oo Antava,” a hit dance number from “Pushpa: The Rise,” also featured Allu Arjun and showcased Samantha’s willingness to explore diverse roles and push her boundaries as an actress. The film, directed by Sukumar, also starred Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, garnering praise for its performances and music.
