Excitement is building for the upcoming release of “Lal Salaam,” a film directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth and featuring her father, the iconic Rajinikanth, in a special cameo role. The film, which stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in leading roles, recently unveiled a poster announcing its release date during the Pongal festival in January 2024.
The film’s producers took to Twitter to share the news, stating, “Lal Salaam to hit screens on Pongal 2024,” while keeping the exact release date under wraps. The poster showcases Rajinikanth, last seen in the blockbuster “Jailer,” standing beside a vintage car on a cricket field, with a striking red color palette.
Fans of the superstar expressed their anticipation for the film, with one fan tweeting, “Will wait eagerly for this movie,” and another writing, “Only a few months to go now for another Rajinikanth blockbuster.”
“Pongal 2024” is shaping up to be a festival of Tamil cinema releases, with several highly-anticipated films vying for audience attention. Among these are Sivakarthikeyan’s “Ayalaan,” Sundar C’s “Aranmanai 4,” Arun Vijay’s “Vanangaan,” and Jayam Ravi’s “Siren.”
“Lal Salaam,” produced by Lyca Productions and presented by A Subaskaran, is set to be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. The film centers around themes of friendship and cricket, with Rajinikanth portraying the character Moideen Bhai and former cricketer Kapil Dev appearing as himself. Renowned composer AR Rahman is in charge of the film’s music and background score, marking his first collaboration with Aishwarya, Vishnu, and Vikranth.
The journey of “Lal Salaam” began with its shooting in Chennai in March 2023, following a muhurat puja held in December 2022. The filming process concluded in August, and Aishwarya Rajinikanth took to Instagram to share behind-the-scenes photos featuring her father, Vishnu Vishal, Vikranth, and other cast members. In her caption, she expressed her gratitude to her father, writing, “Making a movie with you is a miracle, and you are pure magic appa (father)… Lal Salaam, Moideen Bhai… and it’s a wrap for THE SUPERSTAR.”
