Allu Arjun’s much-awaited film Pushpa 2: The Rule is creating waves globally even before its release. The sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has surpassed expectations, with its advance bookings in North America breaking records for Indian cinema.
Record-Breaking Advance Sales
As of Monday, the film’s advance bookings in the US crossed $1.4 million (₹12 crore), with 50,008 tickets sold for 3,420 shows across 900 locations. Trade analyst Venky Box Office shared the milestone on X (formerly Twitter), reporting that the North American premiere collections for Pushpa 2 had reached $1.458 million.
The film, directed by Sukumar, is tracking better than SS Rajamouli’s RRR and Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, two of the biggest Indian box office successes in North America. Both films grossed over $15 million each in the region, with Baahubali 2 still holding the top spot at $20 million. Analysts predict that Pushpa 2 could surpass $1.5 million in advance sales with nine days to go, setting the stage for a monumental opening.
A Sequel with Grand Ambitions
Pushpa 2: The Rule continues the story of Allu Arjun’s titular anti-hero, Pushpa Raj, and features Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in pivotal roles. The film is touted to be one of the largest Indian productions ever and is generating immense excitement for its December 5 release.
The first installment, Pushpa: The Rise, was a pan-India sensation, becoming a cultural phenomenon with its music, dialogues, and Allu Arjun’s iconic performance. The sequel aims to take the franchise to even greater heights, with fans eagerly awaiting its theatrical debut.
Outpacing the Competition
With Pushpa 2 already matching the pre-release buzz of Pathaan and nearing the pace of Baahubali 2, it is poised to make a significant mark in Indian cinema history. Trade experts predict a bumper opening in both domestic and international markets, fueled by the strong advance sales and the massive fanbase Allu Arjun has garnered worldwide.
As the countdown to December 5 begins, all eyes are on Pushpa 2: The Rule to see if it can rewrite the record books and solidify its place among Indian cinema’s greatest global successes.
