“Mammootty’s ‘Bramayugam’ Box Office Day 2: Earns Almost ₹3 Crore in India”

Mammootty's "Bramayugam" Garners ₹5.6 Crore in India within Two Days, Amid Controversy

Mammootty starrer “Bramayugam” has made headlines with its box office performance, earning nearly ₹3 crore on its second day of release, adding to its initial ₹3.1 crore opening. The film, directed by Rahul Sadasivan, has amassed a total of ₹5.6 crore in India within two days, as reported by Sacnilk.com.

Produced by Night Shift Studios and YNOT Studios, “Bramayugam” has captured audiences’ intrigue with its unique black-and-white presentation, a departure from the conventional format. Set in the 18th century, the movie follows the tale of a priest named Kodumon Potty, portrayed by Mammootty, navigating through the realms of horror and suspense.

Starring Mammootty, Arjun Ashokan, and Sidharth Bharathan in pivotal roles, “Bramayugam” also features Jisshu Sengupta and Amanda Liz. The film’s release has not been without controversy, as a case was filed against its makers by the head of Punjamon Illam, a Brahmin household in Kerala, prior to its release.

The petitioner raised objections regarding the portrayal of Mammootty’s character, alleging it to be negative and defamatory, potentially tarnishing the family’s reputation. The Kerala High Court deliberated on the matter, resulting in the alteration of the lead character’s name from Kunjamon Potty to Kodumon Potty.

Despite the legal wrangle, Mammootty urged viewers to approach the film with an open mind, emphasizing the need to avoid making premature judgments based solely on the trailer. “Bramayugam” is not only making waves in the Malayalam film industry but is also set to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, expanding its reach to wider audiences.

With its intriguing storyline, stellar cast, and distinctive presentation, “Bramayugam” continues to captivate audiences, leaving a mark in the ever-evolving landscape of Indian cinema.
