The highly anticipated teaser trailer for Alia Bhatt’s forthcoming film Jigra has finally been released, and it promises a gripping blend of emotions and action. The teaser, which premiered today, captures a range of sentiments—love, anger, and survival instincts—as Alia Bhatt’s character fights to save her brother, played by Vedang Raina.
The trailer opens with a powerful narration by Alia Bhatt, who details a tragic series of events: “Ma ko bhagwan le gaye. Papa ne khud ki jaan le li. Dur ki rishtedar ne panah di aur bhari kiraya wasool kiya. Choro na Bhatiya saab. Kahaani bohat lambi hai aur bhai ke paas waqt bohot kam.” Translated, this means, “God took away our mother. Father took his own life. Distant relatives gave us shelter, but we had to pay a heavy rent. Leave it, Bhatiya saab. The story is long, and my brother has very little time.”
The emotional opening quickly transitions into high-octane action sequences, showcasing Alia Bhatt wielding an axe and sharp weapons. The intensity heightens as Vedang Raina, who plays Alia’s brother, is seen handcuffed. Manoj Pahwa’s character advises Alia, “Bachchan nehi ban na. Bach ke nikal na hai,” meaning, “You don’t need to be a Bachchan. Learn how to escape.” To this, Alia’s character defiantly responds, “Ab toh Bachchan hi ban na hai,” or “I will be a Bachchan.”
The teaser concludes with a poignant moment as Alia embraces her brother tightly, accompanied by a soulful rendition of “Phoolon Ka Taron Ka” from the classic film Hare Rama Hare Krishna. The emotional backdrop hints at the complex narrative and the deep bond between the siblings.
In anticipation of the teaser trailer, Alia Bhatt had earlier shared two new posters featuring close-up shots of herself with a serious expression. She captioned the posts, “2 HOURS TO GO! JIGRA TEASER TRAILER OUT TODAY AT 11AM! Ulti ginti shuru (The reverse countdown begins).”
Jigra is Alia Bhatt’s second production venture following her 2022 Netflix film Darlings. This project is co-produced with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and directed by Vasan Bala. The film is slated for theatrical release on October 11, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see how far Alia’s character will go to save her brother from the dire situation.
