The Indian box office continued its strong performance in February 2025, recording a total gross collection of ₹1,245 crore, according to The India Box Office Report by Ormax Media. Leading the charge was Vicky Kaushal’s period drama Chhaava, which contributed a massive 53% of the total box office earnings for the month.

Box Office Performance: February 2025

The February 2025 collections mark a 39% increase compared to the same period in 2024, making it the highest-grossing February post-pandemic. The momentum from January carried forward, helping the total box office collections for 2025 so far reach ₹2,264 crore.

Chhaava Dominates the Box Office

Released on February 14, Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar, has emerged as the highest-grossing film of the month, crossing ₹650 crore at the domestic box office. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, is a biopic on Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While its Telugu version was released in March 2025, the February box office report only accounts for its Hindi-language earnings, solidifying its position as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time.

Hindi Cinema’s Market Share Grows

Thanks to Chhaava’s blockbuster success, Hindi films saw a significant boost in market share. The Hindi language share for January-February 2025 rose to 45%, up from 40% in 2024.
